An apostille certifies the origin of a public document, not its content and not the approval of an application. Check the details and the requirement of the procedure before you apostille, so you are less likely to pay again for a corrected document.

How long do residency in Paraguay and the Paraguayan cédula take?

For an ordinary filing we use 90 to 120 days for residency and then 60 to 150 days for the cédula, when the route you choose allows you to request it. Document preparation comes first and has to be part of the plan. These are service estimates, not a guarantee. The MigraMóvil can have different conditions and timing.

Start with the goal of the move and with an evaluation of the route. Then organize documents, expenses, and the trip to file. Do not use an old package price as a current quote: professional fees and outside costs are separate items.

Migraciones announces the MigraMóvil schedule, and it can change. Below is the record of the last check, with dates, cities, and places. Confirm it again on the official calendar before you travel. A recorded date does not guarantee service and does not confirm that the event is still ahead.

The Mercosur permanent application is planned while the temporary card is still valid. The DNM points to the window of the 90 days before expiry and requires proof of solvency. Prepare the documents before that window.

Each child's documents are planned with the adults responsible. The DNM distinguishes cases with both parents, only one, or a third party. Children under 14 do not file the police records listed for the migration file. Residency and the cédula are separate stages.

A visa, an entry record, and a residency authorization are not the same document. A visa waiver for Brazilians does not replace the procedures for living in the country. Identify what your case requires before you hire anyone or travel.

Temporary Mercosur residency can make sense for someone who does not need a cédula at the start. Before you decide, compare your goals, the full budget, and the path to permanent residency, instead of choosing only by the opening fee.

Mercosur or Law 6.984/2022: which temporary residency to choose in Paraguay

On the Mercosur route the Migraciones fee is lower (Gs. 2,341,540) and the document list is shorter, but temporary residency does not include the Paraguayan cédula. Under Law 6.984/2022 the fee is Gs. 2,926,925 and there are more documents, but the cédula can be requested already at the temporary stage, which usually makes a bank account and a driver's license easier. People who only want to live or study are often fine with Mercosur. People who will work, start a business, drive, or open an account usually need the new law.
