Moving with children means looking at the family’s documents person by person. Having one adult’s documents ready does not mean each child’s application is complete.
The best preparation starts with the family picture: who will reside, who will travel, who will sign the application, and who can attend. Do not wait until you are in the queue to discover a missing authorization.
Each child needs their own preparation
Keep a folder per applicant and a list of the documents the family shares. Check names, parentage, and the match with the certificates. Do not assume that siblings of different ages will have exactly the same list.
The guide to residency for children and families is the site’s reference for starting that review. The evaluation has to consider the residency category and the situation of the adults responsible.
Who will attend and sign?
The DNM distinguishes applications with both parents, with only one, and with a third party accompanying the child. That can change the representation documents and the authorization you need.
If one parent cannot attend, check the right instrument before the trip. Do not assume that a generic travel authorization also authorizes settling residence in the country. Custody, a death, family disputes, and other specific situations should be referred for review and, when needed, to a qualified professional.
Police records: age changes the list
In the migration documents that were checked, children under 14 are exempt from the police-record certificates the DNM lists. That exemption does not remove identity, parentage, or the other requirements of the application.
The cédula has its own procedure and is checked at the matching stage. Do not automatically extend one authority’s rule to every document the child may need.
Plan residency and the cédula separately
First define the residency category and what the family needs. See the Paraguayan cédula guide to understand the identity stage, without assuming it is issued together with the residency card.
For school, health care, or a later trip, ask the responsible institution directly which documents it accepts. Migration guidance cannot guarantee enrollment, care, or a travel authorization from another authority.
Organize the family’s logistics
| Step | How to avoid doing it twice |
|---|---|
| Documents | Check one folder and one list per child |
| Adults responsible | Decide who attends and which signatures are needed |
| Travel | Leave time for transfers and for the children’s needs |
| The appointment | Confirm the procedure that applies to the family before filing |
| Budget | Itemize applications and costs, without assuming one family price |
Do not turn one adult’s timeline or cost into a rule for everyone. In the evaluation, describe the number of adults and children and their ages, without sending complete personal documents in the first conversation.
How the team can help
Legaliza Paraguay guides the preparation according to the service you hire and refers situations that need a specialist review. The decision belongs to the responsible authorities. Organizing the documents helps avoid open items, but it does not guarantee approval or a completion date.
