Before you book the trip, answer one question: what do you plan to do in Paraguay? The answer organizes the choice of route, the documents, and the budget. A plan that works for someone who will only study may not work for someone who needs a cédula for other activities.
This article sets out the preparation sequence. For the requirements of each category, use the temporary residency guide, instead of treating a travel story as a checklist that fits everyone.
1. Define the goal and the category
Write down nationality, the city you have in mind, the number of adults and children, and whether you need a cédula. The comparison of Mercosur and Law 6.984 helps with the choice. The evaluation has to look at your case, not only at the opening price. If the Mercosur agreement does not cover your nationality, the route is Law 6.984/2022.
2. Check what you already have
Make a list of the documents you have, the ones that still need to be issued, and the ones that need a check. Review names, parentage, and civil status before you order new copies or apostilles. Also set aside any history of residence in other countries so you can mention it in the evaluation.
For Brazilians, bring a passport, RG, or CIN as a physical original. A CNH and cards from professional councils do not replace the document required for entry and for the residency application. Check the identification before you organize the other expenses. Someone of another nationality presents the travel document Migraciones accepts for that case.
3. Split the budget into parts
| Group | How to plan it |
|---|---|
| Guidance | Check the plan, the level of support, and its limits |
| Public authorities | Look up the official fee that applies to the application |
| Documents | Allow for issuance, apostilles, and the certifications you need |
| Travel | Book transport and lodging, and leave room for changes |
Do not reuse the packages and prices published in 2025. On the current plans, official fees and third-party costs stay separate from the professional fee. Ask for a proposal that shows what is included before you hire us.
4. Prepare the trip for filing
Check the plan after you review the documents, not only after you buy the ticket. Record your entry correctly at migration control and keep the receipt. Give a real address. Do not follow a generic suggestion to use any address to fill in the application.
The DNM states that filing is personal and in person. Guidance can cover preparation and follow-up according to the service you hire, but it does not replace the attendance the authority requires.
5. Keep the filing receipt and follow open items
Keep a folder of receipts and make sure your contact channels stay current. If a further request appears, read it before you produce new documents. Filing the application is not the same as receiving residency.
The cédula is another stage. See the article on timelines to separate preparation, residency, and a possible cédula request in the plan.
How to start with the team
In the first contact, say what your goal is and whether the move is individual or for a family. You do not need to send photos of certificates or police records to start the conversation. The team explains the right scope and how the check will work. The first contact is remote. In-person service with the person responsible happens after you hire us.
